The crime scene unit of the Salisbury Police Department responds to assist Patrol Officers and Detectives in the Collection and Preservation of Evidence at the scene of crimes in the City of Salisbury North Carolina.

The Unit has special equipment that allows the Identification Specialist to photograph and measure the evidence.  The Specialist can determine if Fingerprints are obtainable from the scene and then collect those fingerprints to compare to ones that are kept on file either at the Police Department or send them to the State Bureau of Investigation for comparison.

The Identification Specialist is trained in Classification of Fingerprints and Palm Prints, the processing of various crime scenes and the taking of photographs.

The Salisbury Police Department provides as a service to the community the taking of Fingerprints that are required for Day Care and Housing Authority and various other reasons for employment or reregistering with the State of North Carolina.  The Fingerprints are Ten dollars ($ 10.00) Fingerprinting is done on Thursdays from 12:30 P.M. until 3:00 P.M.  Except on holidays.   We do not fingerprint for Gun Permits or Federal Immigration services.
